Philippines eSIM guide: networks, coverage and setup
The Philippines has three operators, with good coverage in Manila, Cebu and Davao and patchier signal on smaller islands. Local tourist SIMs must be registered and expire after 30 days.

5G5G is available in major cities on Smart and Globe, and in selected cities on DITO. 3G is being phased out by end-2026.

- For stays over 30 days, an eSIM avoids the 30-day tourist SIM cut-off.
- Island-hopping areas (Palawan, Siargao, Bohol backcountry) can have weak signal; plan offline maps.
Buying a local SIM
Under the SIM Registration Act (RA 11934), tourists must register with a passport, proof of address in the Philippines and a return ticket. Tourist SIMs are deactivated after 30 days unless you show a visa extension.
Weak-signal areas
Good in Metro Manila, Cebu, Davao and Boracay town areas. Remote islands, mountains and boat trips often lose signal.
