Register your immigration and customs details on Visit Japan Web before you fly, then show one QR code at immigration and customs. It is free and not mandatory: paper disembarkation and customs forms are still available.

Who
Any traveller entering Japan, including visa-exempt visitors. Japanese nationals and re-entry permit holders only use the customs part.
When
Any time before arrival. Register on PC or phone, but the QR code must be shown on a smartphone or tablet at the airport.

One registration per trip (entry schedule).
Processing
QR code is generated immediately after you finish the procedure.

Steps

  1. Create an account with your email address and log in.
  2. Register user: choose your procedure category and add passport details (scan with camera or enter manually).
  3. Register your entry/return schedule: flight and place of stay in Japan.
  4. Fill in 'Immigration clearance and customs declaration' for that schedule.
  5. On arrival, show the single QR code at the immigration counter, then at the customs electronic declaration terminal or inspection desk.

  • Address and phone of your hotel in Japan
  • Smartphone to display the QR code

Watch out

  • The Digital Agency never charges a fee. Sites asking for payment are not official.
  • Fake apps such as 'Visit Japan Web Info' have been reported. Visit Japan Web is a website, not an app.
  • If the site or your phone fails, fill in the paper disembarkation card and customs form at the airport.
  • The tax-free shopping QR code cannot be used as a screenshot.

Every arriving passenger must declare belongings, either via Visit Japan Web or on the paper form. Submit two copies if you have unaccompanied baggage.

  1. Get the form on board or at customs.
  2. Fill in personal details and answer the declaration questions.
  3. Hand it to the customs officer with your passport.
